Pick-off Rescue / Rescue from descender

After assessing the situation and communicate with the casualty, the rescuer can access the casualty either ascending or descending the casualty’s ropes, using his work line as safety line and his safety line as work line.

The rescuer and the casualty remain attached at two points all the time.

Once the rescuer transfer the weight of the casualty to his system and passes the tail of the rope that comes from the Petzl I´d through a carabiner to add extra friction he can start descending.

The Petzl Asap with the absorbica L57 is the back-up system used for this maneuver.
